Good news for people who use Kindle for PC: Amazon is rolling out an update (v 1.1.0) that provides some welcome new features, including:
- full screen reading (see photo below!)
- background color and brightness controls
- the ability to create and edit notes and highlights

According to Amazon Kindle Customer Service, the company will be “rolling this update out to existing Kindle for PC users, or you can download the updated version.”
In other words, you can do nothing and sometime this month your Kindle for PC application should update itself when you launch it.
However, if you’re impatient (like me) or tend to turn off auto-updates (also like me), you’ll have to manually update the application. Just visit amazon.com/kindleforpc and download the new version, then run the installer. It will automatically update your existing installation, and then launch the improved version.
